When will you receive your refund? The answer depends on how you filed your return. The IRS should issue your refund check within six to eight weeks of filing a paper return. If you chose to receive your refund through direct deposit, you should receive it within a week. If you use e-file, your refund should be issued between two and three weeks. NEW - Refunds for Oklahoma Individual refund returns that do not include direct deposit information for any tax year will automatically be issued a debit card starting mid-January 2012. For joint filers, a debit card will be issued separately with each taxpayer’s name. To activate the card and get a PIN number, the taxpayer will call a toll free number and provide their name, address and the last four digits of their social security number. For joint filers, it is the last four digits of the primary SSN. General Card Information The card will be green in color and include the words “Oklahoma Tax Refund” Lost or stolen cards will be replaced free of charge on the first request. Subsequent replacements are $4.00 each. A fee of $1.50 per month is charged after 60 days of inactivity. Taxpayers need to use it or turn it into cash as soon as possible.
